Representing the second U.S. Air Force variant of the NASA Scout, the Blue Scout II carried a numerical designation of XRM-90. The Blue Scout II carried the same four-stage array as the original NASA Scout. However, the stages were improved so that the Blue Scout II could carry a 365-pound payload on a ballistic trajectory to an altitude of 8,500 miles.
