Edited by Cliff Lethbridge
COCOA, FL (March 1, 2001) - Astronaut Story Musgrave is to unfold his groundbreaking theater style "Space Stories" on Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10 in the Astronaut Memorial Planetarium, Brevard Community College (BCC) Cocoa Campus. Shows begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Musgrave, veteran of six Space Shuttle missions, will be performing here on Earth in a way most of the public has never seen. It is Story the artist, orator, poet and comic who will take you through a truly beautiful and moving multi-sensoral experience.
Story's extensive collection of breath-taking images from space will be projected over the Planetarium's star field. It is these images, and his own experiences living in space, which inspire Story's stirring narratives and he never does the same show twice. "Space is a theater," says Musgrave, "what better place to showcase space than in a theater?" This will not be a lecture program. It will be live theater, an inimitable voyage through the cosmos, guided by a uniquely talented and qualified performer.
Accompanying Dr. Musgrave is Jonn Serrie, master of space-ambient music, providing a live, added dimension to this new dramatic experience. Story is a long-time fan of Jonn's music and both performers are honored and excited to be working together. "As music inspires harmony and new ideas", says Serrie, "space exploration opens vast avenues of creative expression for all artists." "Space Stories" is living proof that melding the worlds of space, art, music and theater is indeed a most inspirational way to have a virtual tour of the galaxy. The duet are taking their shows on the road this year.
Tickets are $15, and can be purchased in advance through the BCC Planetarium, by credit card or check. Phone 321-632-1111 ext. 63000 or 63504 or email leslies@brevard.cc.fl.us for ticket information.
